ABOUT

“Human trafficking is a heinous crime happening all around us. The victims — 30% of which are children — are subject to forced labour, sexual exploitation and other forms of abuse. We must do more to bring criminals to justice, and help victims rebuild their lives."

- António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations

It is estimated that 40.3 million people are slaves in our world today! “Modern Slavery” or “Human Trafficking” is a crime that affects every country around the world, including Norway!

In Norway, between 100 and 300 victims are identified EVERY YEAR!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world felt an increased need to move a great part of the work to a digital form. However, “while traffickers have been able to quickly adapt their activities to the online sphere during the pandemic, government agencies and civil society have had difficulty doing so”.

- ODIHR & UN WOMEN REPORT, 2020

The work with survivors of human trafficking requires a high level of security and confidentiality of information, documents, and communication. There is no software available for the specifics of the work with this population and that is why we need you!

Humans for Humans created this hackathon to challenge global talents to deliver a demo of a workable solution (Web and/or Mobile App) to improve the work of organizations fighting human trafficking.

The teams, with a max of 5 elements, must deliver a back-end solution (server with business logic; database) and a front-end solution (browser, mobile or both).

Humans for Humans
Humans for Humans is a non-profit organization with focus on mental health and human trafficking. We are a team of 9 volunteers that work on:
● Treatment: We provide FREE mental health support for human trafficking survivors and for the professionals working in the field.
● Prevention: We develop educational and professional programs for: general public, schools, hospitals, hotels, companies. We make events and campaigns.
● Progress: We are currently developing a mobile app and a digital platform to better deliver our services. Investing on training for mental health professionals, specialized in human trafficking. Developing research projects to study the needs of the survivors and the effectiveness of the services being provided.
